Tom Wilding / Stephen Stillwell...
A law over six centuries old transfers ownership of 9 Parkdale Avenue,
Manchester to The Crown. Property valued at L35,000.

mikejames...
The council has asked the queen's law firm, Farrer & Co. of London, for
permission to sell the property -- which might fetch a better price
because of its royal connections. The queen has not yet replied.

She could always give it to some 'relative' :)

Don Aitken...
For a version which makes rather more sense, eee

Graham Truesdale...
Which states that 'any cash raised from the sale of the house would be
donated to charities the Jubilee Trust and the Duchy of Lancaster
Benevolent Fund.

Graham Truesdale...
In case anyone thinks this is a purely British concept, here is a
case from Indiana involving stock valued at $485.20
And here is an Idaho State Tax Commission webpage with a
crown and Union Flag
And here is a Supreme Court case where 'every State not already
a party to this proceeding and the District of Columbia sought leave
to intervene.'
