Is there a separatist movement in Scotland that favors a return of the
monarchy? And would it be a continuation of the Stuarts? I believe
the current head of the family lives in Austria and I assume he would
be king.

Don Aitken...
There ain't no Stuarts, and haven't been for two centuries. All of
them except the first were illegitimate anyway; the rightful King of
Scots is Richard Barclay-Allardice of Leominster, Mass.

The Stewart family is not extinct. There are thousands of them.

The last two Acts of the Scottish parliament concerning the succession
were the Act of Security 1704, which excluded Catholics, and the Union
With England Act 1707, which adopted the succession defined by the
(English) Act of Settlement 1701.

Don Aitken...
No, he is the heir of King Robert II by his second marriage, the first
being of doubtful validity, via the nobleman who was deprived of two
earldoms for claiming a better title to the Scottish throne than King
Charles I. See WAR's essay at

The current head of the Stuart family is the Duke of Bavaria who is a
descendent of James I daughter Elizabeth through her marriage to
Frederick V, the Elector Palatine.
Ignore all the other stuff about Princes of Albany and
Barlclay-Allerdices.
