Indeed, there's still a considerable body calling it "Rumania".
Out of curiosity, I did some quick searching the web, not to settle the
question of "correctness" but to get a sense of actual usage:
Romania: 131,000,000 pages + 28,400,000 "Romanian"
Rumania: 3,920,000 + 1,460,000 "Rumanian"
Roumania: 5,960,000 + 140,000 "Roumanian"
I tend to write the country -o- but use a -u- for the Rumanian
Rhapsody. More searching the web tells me I'm in a distinct minority there:
"Romanian Rhapsody" 12,700 pages
"Rumanian Rhapsody" 510
"Roumanian Rhapsody" 10,600

Dear Stan,
For your information, Enescu wrote ~two~ rhapsodies. The second is
seldom heard and that's a pity. It's a great piece -- noble, tragic,
sad.
Cheers,
Alec Lowly

Republic of Romania reinstituted the Order of the Star of Romania:
Does anybody know what was the reaction of King Michael, since he (at least
formally) has the right to award the royalist order of the same name? Was
there perhaps a concordat signed by which the former King passes his
prerogatives as the Grand Master to the President of Romania? Or this is
similar case as with the Russian Federation Order of St. Andrew?
