Do/did the various branches of (the) Lippe and the princes of
Schaumburg-Lippe descend from a common male ancestor? If not, is there a
reason for the 'shared' name? If so, are/were the various branches in line
to inherit the others upon extinction? I know some of the branches are
extinct but I don't have great knowledge of it.

They do; Simon VI Graf zur Lippe (b. 1554) is common male line ancestor to
both Lippe and Schaumburg-Lippe Fürsten. From his son Simon VII descend the
branches of Lippe-Detmold (extinct), Lippe-Biesterfeld (now senior),
Lippe-Falkenflucht and Lippe-Weissenfeld. Simon VI's younger son Philipp is
ancestor to the Schaumburg-Lippe branch.
Arms of both Lippe and Schaumburg-Lippe include the Lippe Rose

Also, was the title of members of the S-L branch "prinz/prinzessin zu
Schaumburg-Lippe", "prinz/prinzessin von Schaumburg-Lippe" or
"prinz/prinzessin zur Schaumburg-Lippe?

Thank you very much! Do you know why the Schaumburg line prefixed their name
with Schaumburg rather than put it on the end like all of the other Lippe
lines?

Many thanks in advance.
