Coventry E query

Can anyone clear up my confusion on this point

Victor Henry Coventry was born on 4 December 1909. He is the son of
Henry Thomas Coventry and Edith Kip. He married Emileliene Jeanne Snow,
possibly at sea.1 He married Winifred Louise Cooper, daughter of Arthur
E. Cooper, on 6 August 1943.

Clearly the marriage is one of the following; otherwise the son Henry
Paul Coventry would be 13th Earl of Coventry (succ the 12th Earl)

1) suppositious - as in being claimed by the lady and her children (one
son and one daughter)
2) cannot be proven
3) bigamous (as in bigamy probably on the lady's part)

Theroff's file mentions the marriage to Winifred Louise Cooper but not
the earlier marriage.

Also, when did Victor Henry Coventry die?

When I sent the proofs of the article on the Earls of Coventry to Lord
Coventry last year I received the comment back that the family is only
aware of one marriage (the 1943 one!) for Victor Henry.
