What style was used by Princess Beatrice after her marriage to Don
Guy Stair Sainty...

The title of Prince (or Princess) of Orleans did not then exist in Spanish
law; it came into existence as a courtesy by the attribution of the style
of royal highness etc under the decree of 21 May 1912. A similar decree
had conferred the title of royal highness on the issue of the second marriage
of the Infante D. Carlo(s) de Borbon-Dos Sicilias y Borbon-Dos Sicilias, and
on the issue of the Infante D. Fernando de Baviera by his first marriage.
Although the title of Prince or Princess was not conferred by these decrees,
the practice developed more or less contemporaneously of attriubting the
title of Prince (hitherto restricted to the immediate heir to the throne)
to those on whom these privileges and titles (i.e. everything but that of
Infante/a) had been conferred. This practice was effectively confirmed in 1920
when Alfonso XIII conferred the title of "Principe de Borbon" on Prince Gabriele
de Borbon-Dos Sicilias, youngest brother of Infante D. Carlo(s).
This was the first time the title of "Principe" was actually conferred.
The French title of Prince of Orleans is legally non existent. The ancien regime
title was "S.A.R. Monseigneur N.... 'Orleans, Prince du Sang". The
July Monarchy did not in fact change the titles or royal styles other than that
of King of France and Navarre to King of the French, with the title of Prince
Royal and Duke of Orleans for the heir apparent. At the same time the royal
family continued to use the old Orleans arms, and the children of the
King were styled "Prince" or "Princesse" "d'Orleans", but without any formal
enactment of that style. To the extent that this title exists legally, and one
must presume that use has conferred a certain legitimacy therto, King Alfonso
XIII had no jursidiction over the use of that title. I am sure that between 1909
and 1912 the former Infante D. Alfonso did not stop calling himself royal
highness when visiting his various royal cousins. Today the children of the
Count of Paris style themselves Prince or Princess of France, while they have
the Orleans name on their passport.
One may look at the example today of the wife of the Infante D. Carlos, born
Princesse Anne d'Orleans, who in Spain is styled "S.A.R. Ana d'Orleans, Duquesa
de Calabria". When in 2004 she was received in private audience along with her
husband and children by Pope John Paul II, she was described as "S.A.R.
Principessa Anna d'Orleans". I do not believe that any other state has given
such formal recognition to the Orleans title. France has as a courtesy accorded
passports with the title of Count of Paris and royal highness, but not with the
title of Prince.
