I'm not into music but found a midi site. Is the present day Russian
national anthem the same tune as Imperial Russia?
Joseph McMillan...
|
No. If the site is correct, it's the same tune as the USSR. The
Russian Federation under Yeltsin adopted an anthem that was different
from both the Soviet anthem and the Tsarist one, but I had heard
several years ago that Putin wanted to restore the Soviet tune with new
words. Apparently he did so.

New words were written by the same author who in 1943 wrote the words

The author, Sergei Mikhalkov, is Golitsyn descendant:

a version of the webpage in English, as well.

No. The Imperial anthem (at least in the last few decades of the monarchy) was "God
Save the Tsar". The current anthem shares a tune with the Soviet anthem.

Nar. It's the same as the old Soviet one.
The Imperial one was "God Save The Tsar" which wouldn't be appropriate as
Ras hasn't (yet?) claimed that title.
