Several people have told me of a web site which lists titles assumed by
members of the Polish nobility. My web searches have not been
successful in locating this site. Does anyone know about

this site or is it just someone's imagination? Any help or suggestions
will be appreciated.

The only sites I have seen that resemble what you have described are
part of the introduction to Szymon Konarski's Armorial de la noblesse
polonaise titr=E9e)
Konarski's classic text on Heraldry and Heraldic Snobbery but without
the listing of pseudo-titles). Ironically, this translation is hosted
on the web page of the ludicruous Polish Nobility Association--an
organisation known to have several members who bear suspect titles.

Further to my last post, I now see that the Polish Nobility Association
web page has another translation from Konarski's text on Heraldry and
Heraldic Snobbery and this does include Konarski's list of
pseudo-titles. It may be viewed here:

This appears to be the site described by my friend. Thanks for the
info.

I don't know what you mean by assumed. Do you mean false titles? Titles were
gnerally granted not assumed.
In terms of legitimate titles Rafal Heydel Mankoo has a little site about
the titled families of Poland -
It is reasonably complete. There are relatively few titled families among
the Polish nobility and most of the titles are of foreign origin as except
for some titles granted in the 18th century and some dynastic princely
titles of Lithuanian-Ruthenian origin, the general principle was one of
legal equality among the nobility and the King was not permitted to grant
titles to Poles and foreign titles were tolerated but not recognized.
The best resource is probably Simon Konarski, "Armorial de la noblesse
polonaise titree", Paris, 1958.
Confederation of Polish Nobility) you will find numerous links, mainly in
Polish.
In another of his books "O heraldyce i heraldycznym snobizmie" (On heraldry
and heraldic snobbery) he lists many of the families know to have assumed
titles without authority and this list is probably longer than the list of
Polish families who are legitimately titled. In terms of self-styled or
false titles there are at least two, in my mind silly groups in Poland that
purport to grant titles or recognize spurious titles. You will find
reference to groups the ZSzP does not maintain relationships. There is also
one group in the US where such titles abound.
