Many people like to make claim to a throne, any throne - or claim royal
blood for that matter, based upon birth, even out of wedlock. King
William the Conqueror was one who succeeded extremely well.

Just to keep things as simple as possible, let's presume that the true
british monach should be determined from the blood line of King William
the Conqueror. Based upon his decent, who would most likely be the
british monarch today, based upon his first and eldest child (son or
daughter) inheriting the crown, who was born legitimate or
illlegitimate, from all of William's known offspring.

Impossible to tell as such rules would have influenced who were chosen
as spouses and thus there is no way to tell who William's descendants
would really have been.

Under those rules Vicky, Victoria's first child would have been Heiress
Apparent and there was NO way that she would have been allowed to marry
the Heir of the German Empire.

The same is true for several situations earlier in British history.

Of course, with such silly rules as proposed in the original post,
nobody would have ever bothered about marriage anyway.

Has a crown ever been transmitted according to such strange rules of
succession?
