Back when he married that commoner Diana were there any suitable
pincesses whom like in the good old days could have put duty before
"love" and married him?
Like the GD Maria V?

Not a huge short list of princesses, and besides there were then as
there are now very few young girls running around thinking "I must
always remember my husband is also my sovereign". Once one gets past the
RMA requirements there really weren't that many Protestant princesses of
the right age, and the Catholic ones were not in the running. Even if
say a suitable German princess came upon the radar, not sure how well
such a marriage would have gone down.
Besides PC had stated early on he wanted a "home grown" girl, someone
whom knew the royal ropes so to speak.

There are far too many "whoms" here!
It would have been nice if The Prince of Wales had been able to find a
"girl" who could have remembered three things:
l. My husband is also the heir to the Throne;
2. I am preparing to become the next Queen Consort of the United
Kingdom;
3. I must always remember my mother-in-law is also my Sovereign.
On the contrary, I think there were many well-bred young English women
(er, girls) that might have fit the bill. Alas, it happened
differently.

Since you have corrected "whom", could I point out that the past participle
of "to fit" is "fitted"?

Regrettably that didn't happen with his first wife.
