Seth...
Does anyone know why HRH The Margrave of Mei=DFen and HRH Princess
Anastasia-Luise of Anhalt never had any children? I mean they were 36
and 22 respectively when they married, one would think that they would
have been able to have children.

Charles von Hamm...
TRH The Margrave and Margravine of Meissen suffices.

Certainly the Saxon succession wouldn't be so confusing if things had
happened differently.

Charles von Hamm...
That is true, but alas it is not the way things are.

Is it even legal, according to the Royal House of Saxony's rules, to
have the succession pass through the female line, or did Maria just
take that step on his own when he named his sister's son to be his
heir? And do the other few remaining members of the Royal House
recognize Alexander de Afif as Prinz von Sachsen-Gessaphe? I mean
shouldn't Prince Albrecht Dedo of Saxony succeed as Head of the House
before Alexander does?

Charles von Hamm...
*I believe* that Royal Saxony, as a kingdom, could pass through a female
line, but the titles of Duke in Saxony, Landgrave in Thuringia, etc.
couldn't go with it unless one decided to "pull an Orange-Nassau" and use
them anyway.

If members of the Royal House directly means dynasts, if there are any, then
why would Alexander de Afif be named as an "heir".

In my opinion, if he is indeed able to be the heir, I think this
"Sachsen-Gessaphe" deal is slightly lame. After all, he could just be
"Sachsen", in that case.
