As the Queen matured into adulthood and maturity, I always thought that
she looked like her grandmother, Queen Mary ( and through her to Queen
Charlotte). Now, however loooking at pictures of her over the last
couple of years, I'm not so sure. As a young adult, she did seem to
have something of her father about her... Any thoughts on the groups
as to who she takes after, resembles? Also which of her descendants
take after her? Thanks.

She looks more and more like her mother IMO and Anne looks more and more
like the Queen. Not sure which side of QEQM's side she favored...
Bowes-Lyon or Strathmore.
Yet, I can see Queen Mary quite clearly in both QEII and the Princess Royal.

There are photographs of the Queen in which she is looking very like
Queen Mary and I've seen a couple of Princess Anne in which she looks
the image of the old Princess Royal.

This week I watched a program on the Canadian station called The First
Windsors. It was about George V and Queen Mary. I noticed not a
facial or body resemblance of Queen Elizabeth to Queen Mary, but the
way Queen Elizabeth moves, smiles and holds her head and arms is all
her grandmother.

Yes, Queen Mary involved herself in Elizabeth's behavior and education,
particularly after the Abdication. And a good thing, too. QEQM thought
her girls didn't need much formal teaching.
One of my favorite stories was of the princess going somewhere with
Queen Mary and being in a hurry to leave because there were so many
people outside waiting to see her. The Queen, appalled at this perceived
egotism, took her granddaughter out the back door.
