Can anyone comment on the suggestion that Gunter Grass has blue blood ?
The rumour has it his ancesters changed the bedlinen at the famous
Coburg gathering of 1894, and then of course one thing led to another.
Young Affie, that poor lost soul searching for a mate has to be high on
the maybes.

Royalty... in my opinion... is much, much more than mere DNA...
In days where birth-control was unreliable and royal match-making more
concerned with the forming of alliances rather than love-matches,
illegitimate children were inevitable.
To be royal is more than mere genes, it's being born to a legitimate
union of two people according to dynastic law.. a suitable upbringing
reflecting their future roles and duties and... far more importantly...
a life of duty and service.
While fascinating, illegitimate children are "commoners" (I don't use
that term in a derogatory sense), they may have a family connection,
but they're no more "royal" than the children of former presidents and
other community leaders. I think intense speculation on "who changed
bed linen with whom" is intensely distasteful, of an intense personal
nature.
Of course, the rights of the child enter into the equation also, and
many such children have gone on to lead highly productive lives...
