Can someone clear up the sizing of children's clothes. There are toddler
sizes that start with 2T and go up to a 4T & even 5T. Then the little
boys/girls sizing starts with a size 4. Is the kids size 4 the same as a
toddler size 4? Thanks.

Not exactly. Partly, toddler clothes are still cut fuller for
diapers. Partly, it seems, they just proportioned a little
differently. 24M clothes are the same as 2T either. Don't ask me,
it's totally nonsensical.

24M AREN'T the same, I meant to say.

I've always wished that I could buy clothes by my own age -- somehow, a
size 6 with a the low-waist (ha!) bell-bottoms (did that already) don't
quite work for me, but I'd eagerly search out something in the 528M
rack...

I'd be happy to do with the guy's system of inches around and inches
long. Women's sizes suck, too.

I've bought 4 and 4T pants, same design, same manufacturer. The 4T were
shorter and wider.

Sort of, except that the toddler sizes generally have
bigger seats to accommodate diapers.

Thank you. If a boy who wears a US size 4T in pants and is not in diapers
but is very thin do you think a 4 in boys might fit better? a

Most likely, yes. Are you ordering online? If so, I recommend really looking
at their size chart with the measurements.

I would expect so. Also, the styles tend to change somewhat
for those sizes. Some of the toddler clothes will be
a little bit babyish. Not as noticeable in boys clothes
as in girls though.

Yes. You can even find size 4 slim.

A growing umber of manufacturers are (smartly) putting adjustable waistbands
in children's pants now...basically they are an elastic with lots of
buttonholes that you can adjust inside the waistband. It is very handy for
those of us with scrawny kids. Some of the places that I have been
purchasing these pants are Old Navy and Target. I'm sure there are other
places where they are available as well.

We've also bought them at Meijer, in the US. My ultra-skinny 6 year
old doesn't like them, though.

They're more comfortable if you tuck whatever
is left of the elastic back inside the waistband.
Did you try that?
Nan...
|
Yeah. She doesn't like the buttons. Sometimes I wonder if she has
sensory issues, but it doesn't seem to be consistent.

Yes, and, therefore, long pants in toddler sizes will have snaps up and down
the insides of the legs....for changing the diapers.
