heughins1...
I know that toddlers can be fickle and picky eaters. But, my 17 month old
could "live" on bananas. She asks for them at every meal, and if I give
them to her, she won't eat the other food I give her. Will it hurt her to
have so many bananas in a day...and not much of anything else?

an588...
Bananas stick to the teeth a lot, IME. It's a good idea
to brush the teeth.

I wonder whether she's getting enough vitamin C. You could
sprinkle a little vitamin C powder on her banana. I don't
think there's much vitamin C in bananas. OK, I found a web
page that seems to be saying there's 11 mg per banana.
Less than an optimal amount I suppose but it's something.

stasya...
Just you wait. In a few weeks, she won't even TOUCH a banana....little

dkhedmo...
Yep, it'll happen the day after you buy a huge bunch of them!

ones can be funny that way.

Laura Faussone...
Bananas can be pretty constipating.

toto...
Yes, they are fruit, but....

When your baby is four months of age you can begin strained baby foods
such as cereal, apricots, peaches, plums, pears, prunes, beans, peas
or spinach. Squash, carrots, apples, and bananas may make the
constipation worse. Feed your baby solid food two to three times
daily.

Vegetables and fruits are not all the same in their effects on the
bowels.

dejablues...
That's why bananas are part of the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce,
toast) recommended for people recovering from diarrhea - they are low in
fiber , and bind the stool.

Jeff...
Nor do the same vegetables have the same effects on the bowels of different
kids and adults. And the effects depends on what is in the rest of the diet.
And changes over time.

Depends on the kid. When my twins were younger, if one ate a banana
she'd poop three or four times that day. If the other ate a banana,
she wouldn't poop for a few days.

Aula...
ds was really into them at one point, too. have you thought of giving her
part of one *after* she's eaten the rest of her meal? or maybe as a snack?
That might help you get the variety of foods into her she should have while
still allowing her to have a food item she really enjoys.
