223rem...
Anyone here owns an Ergo baby carrier? I tried
the Bjorn for my 2mo boy, but he's in the 90th
percentile for height, and the Bjorn is too small.
I heard great things about the Ergo, but it is not
sold by mainstream sites such as Amazon, so I'm little
worried.

Irene...
I don't have an Ergo myself, but know some people who love them. I

Fwiw, most (all?) of the best baby carriers are not available in
mainstream sites, alas. Many of them are made by WAHM's, or simply
aren't popular enough yet to be made in quantity, or aren't well known
enough, etc. There are starting to be some name brands like Ergo,
Patapum, Moby Wrap, Didymos, etc, but they are a relatively small drop
in the bucket as far as baby carriers are concerned.

By the way, there are some great smaller etailers with good selections
of baby carriers. Some of the more established ones are
peppermint.com, attachedtobaby.com, and childrensneeds.com (wraps only
at the last one).

Have fun shopping!

Luna...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Ergo. I wish I had gotten one earlier (I waited till my
boy was about 18 months/25 lbs). We still use it almost daily. It's so
comfortable. There are other similar carriers (the Patapum, I think?) You
It's really a wonderful carrier.

I really like mine. It snaps on easily. It is very comfortable for me and I
keep it in the car so I can wear it when I go shopping. My 7 month old seems
to be comfortable in it for long periods of time, too.

enigma...
i had a Bjorn for my son, who was always 98%ile for height
(and 3rd for weight). we never had a problem with it & it was
the most comfortable of all the baby front or back pack
carriers. i have a bad back (twice broken 21st & 22nd
vertabrae, plus torn muscles the 2nd time) & even so, it was
comfortable. you do have to get used to having the kid's hair
tickling your nose, but that's not a big deal really. i used
it until he was close to 2 & kicking me in the knees...
if you've heard great things about the Ergo, was it from
anyone you know? maybe you could borrow one to try it?

Thanks. The Bjorn seemed too tight, not too short. Especially

enigma...
oh! that's different. even though i live in New England, i
never really bundled the baby up. my kid overheats *way*
faster than i do.
in general, if we were going to be outside for extended
periods in below freezing weather , i'd put a sweatshirt
weight or polarfleece onepiece on him, over just a diaper or
diaper & tshirt. the Bjorn is going to add insulation to
whatever he has on, plus he's getting plenty of body heat from
you. you don't have to dress him for an arctic expedition...
oh & i put the Bjorn under my coat or cloak, so there's
another layer over the baby. it's probably a good idea to put

That's more or less what I did, too, walking around in New York City
blizzards with my baby. Now I'm in Seattle, and I've noticed people here
do something with the Bjorns I don't remember seeing before -- they tuck
a blanket into it, covering the Bjorn and hanging down in front. I guess
it's supposed to add another layer of warmth? Keep the baby's legs a tad
bit warmer? It just looks annoying to me, but hey, if it works for
them...

a hat on the baby, but Boo would never wear one.
even if i had a jacket or sweater on him for riding in the
carseat (i had a Britax, not a bucket), i took it off before
putting him in the Bjorn.
