We took dgd to her very first performance of the nutcracker this
evening. I was a bit afraid it would be too long for her, but she did
very well. She enjoyed the dancing and the music but she didn't like
the clapping - she kept putting her hands over her ears and said it
was too loud.
It was such fun to see her face light up when the Christmas Tree grew.
She thought that was real magic. She also liked the children coming
out from Mrs. Gingerbread's skirt. She will probably be trying to do
all the dances at home now. She said she was going to pretend to be
the nutcracker and make the Christmas Tree grow big.

I've never been to a ballet - ought to go one day.

My dd did well with the nutcracker as a younger child but later was
disappointed and frustrated moreso. I think they were also two
different productions so possibly they just differed in the way they
showed the magic.
The big tree got my dd also.
Got little one the Barbie Nutcracker... lol! Not the same.

I'd like to go to a professional production one
day ;-) At the moment, I have mixed emotions about
Nutcracker. Part of me loves it, and part of me dreads
it! It is always a pleasure seeing the boys dance, though.
I never get tired of that.
I'm glad your granddaughter enjoyed the show. I
think it's really important to take kids to performances
of all different sorts.
Best wishes,
Ericka
