at the doctor's office? DS spent the entire day wheezing. I kept giving
breathing treatments and inhalers every half hour to 2 hours. Despite that,
he was still breathing hard and wheezing. When he awoke from his nap, he
was still wheezing. I got him into the car and went to the doctor's office
who declared he wasn't wheezing at all. The doctor said it was a miracle.
He bases his treatment plan on the fact that DS is not wheezing, despite the
fact that he was wheezing all day. Darn it. Why can't he wheeze when I
need him to? At least he had some crackles, so the doctor is treating for
pneumonia. And I got some more Prelone, just in case he starts wheezing
again. I don't think he was convinced DS was wheezing, though. I told the
doctor it must be that all those treatments I gave him finally kicked in.
This always happens. They get better as soon as they hit the doctor's
office and they get sick again as soon as they get home.

My sister (a GP) says they always get better when they arrive!
Actually they can sound dreadfully wheezy but actually they aren't that bad
it's the crackly inside that matters. Sometimes I've taken them sounding
dreadful and the dr. says that it's nothing to worry about, but the times
they have had bad chest infections I hardly heard/felt anthing at all.
Slightly confused as to why treat for pneumonia-I assume you're talking
antibiotics? If the inhalers seemed to have worked then it's not going to be
pneumonia is it?

This sounds like an allergy to something in the house. Dust, mites,
dander, spores, you name it. So when he laves the house and in the
fresh air, he stops?
Then I would look at having an allergy battery done and meanwhile
changing everything you could nad giving him fresh air often

Lol - our ped actually *expects* that to happen, and I think at least
has (in jest) suggested making an appointment simply to get the
"feeling better at the doc's office" phenomenon to happen!

The same thing happens to me. As soon as I get to the doctor's office
door, I feel better and want to cancel the appt. Especially if it
involves a needle of some kind.
My father had the same condition. His dentist was right across the
street from his bartender. He'd stop into his bartender for a brew to
ease his anxiety, feel so much better, he'd call the dentist and
cancel his appt.
It's a miracle!
