That's interesting. Never come across the Olympic/California Queen/King at
all. I'd have guessed the super king was larger too. Very strange.

They have California kings - in California!
-Karen, used to live in California, but never had a king sized bed!-

And in California they pretty much only have California Kings, none of those
regular king size mattresses. (I live in California and do have a
California king size bed.)

We are in a small 3 bed house. The 3rd bedroom is tiny-can only just fit a
junior bed in. Downstairs we only have a kitchen and lounge-diner.
It is time to move #2 (age 2) into #1's (age 5) junior bed. At some point we
would like a third child, so at some point the girls will probably share a
room.
Dh thinks we should buy a bunk bed, and let #1 sleep on the bottom bunk
until we move them into the same room. (like his family did)
I would like to get #1 a cabin bed. (mid sleeper)The one she wants has a
tent underneath with lots of storage space. It would fit a chest of drawers
and a reasonable amount of toys underneath. Then when she's older we should
be able to get a desk that would store underneath, or #2 could move into it
and we get #1 a higher cabin bed with a desk underneath.
I feel that if they have their own bed-particularly with the tent, they do
have their own personal space. We would also have an option of dividing the
bedroom into two with a curtain if it seemed to be better. My own feeling is
that personal space is important as we have no other "retreats" round the
house with only one living room and a tiny garden.
I need my own personal space, and the times I got on least well with my
sister was when sharing a room. Dh doesn't need his space in the same way,
and shared with both his brothers until he was in his teens. Is this a
boy/girl thing?

I grew up in a family of 8 and for most of the time shared a room with
at least one, sometimes 2 sisters. I highly value my personal space,
but even as a kid I found ways to get that regardless of the sleeping
situation. The bedroom was for sleeping and little else anyway. So,
while personal space is important, IMO, I don't think it's highly
critical to have each kid in his/her own room.
DH is probably even more possessive of his personal space than I, and
he grew up with only one brother and each had their own room.
So no, not a boy/girl thing ;-)
