I think 2 years old would be fine. Five was the number I heard...

Don't trash them. More stuff to go in a landfill that can be useful to
others. Do you have a refugee program in your city? Often these are not
obvious, but will be associated with established charities - eg,
Catholic Charities deals with that in this city.
How about a Children's Shelter? At least *call*, they may not be able
to take them, but it's worth asking.

Do you have Craig's List in your area? Try posting there...(it's
craigslist.org)

who needs used car seats?
During Katrina, we gathered many used, worn, clean and never wrecked car
sets for those in need.
Red cross was thrilled, and we got to deliver several ourselves.
Now, I still have a few that did not find a home. All anyone has is my
personal word that none have been in a accident.
I have no intention of selling them, only want to find the place that has a
need.
Any ideas?

The local battered women's shelter? I'm guessing that there are women
there who could use them.

That's an idea, but they may not be allowed to accept used seats. We
couldn't, at the one I worked at.

Good point -- I understand the reasoning behind that.

You can find a group in or near your area.

Seconded. Have you looked into it? The fact that the seats are less than 2
years old and have not been in an accident, ... I'm sure people will grab
them up. Try Freecycle!
