How long should you use the soap specifically made for toddlers? Would it
be too harsh on my 27 MO DD skin if I switched to adult liquid body soap?

You only need to worry if your daughter has sensitive skin. Otherwise
use whatever you like. If she does have sensitive skin, use whatever
doesn't bother her (and use it sparingly). The dermatologist and most
pediatricians that I know recommend Dove sensitive skin bar.

They make soap just for toddlers now? I wonder how we ever got along
without that!
Really - what you use on yourself is just fine, unless it's Lava or Fels
Naphtha or something.

Fels Naptha isn't very harsh.
one year when my brother with OCD was living with me, i gave
him Lava soap for Christmas, hoping he'd get out of the
bathroom in under an hour... didn't work.

Well, I was going to say that was kind of mean of you, but if he liked
it....;-)
Fels Naptha reminds me of my grandmother - she used to wash things by hand
with it. Those bars seemed to last forever too.

They do last forever. I have one in my laundry cupboard that I used
for pre-treating stains. It's been there for about 3 years.

I confess to having a bar of Fels Naptha on hand because the smell
reminds me of my Dad (he used to use it every day after work to wash
up). My daughters probably are going to tell someone that their mom
sniffs soap....

I've been using Dove (bar) on my 26 mo dd for a long time with no
problems. I think if your dd doesn't have skin problems like eczema,
then you should be okay. I'd steer clear of anything heavily
perfumed, though.

Isn't the adult liquid body soap really expensive compared with bar soap?
I would recommend Dove, which is really gentle on skin.
