Discovered today that my son is allergic to eggs. Seeing the Dr later today
to see what this means to us.
Does anyone know of a good cook book that contains egg-free recipes for
kids? I know that cakes are particularly difficult. I can cope with normal
everyday food and will need to learn what products contain the egg proteins,
but his 1st birthday is next month and I wanted him to try his first cake.
Any suggestions for a good book containing egg-free cake recipes?

Its probably fairly obvious to others but it took me a little while to
twig ;-) vegan websites are great for egg free recipes.

I've gone egg free for years & I LOVE Wacky Cake.
The recipe I use is at the bottom of this page
but also if you search for Wacky Cake it comes up all over the place. I
don't mix it in the pan. I just use another bowl and then transfer it to the
pan. It is very delicious with just powdered sugar on top or a frosting of
your choice. It's my favourite cake.
Also, I have a book called "Food Allergy Survival Guide" by Vesanto Melina,
Dina Aronson, & Jo Stepaniak that has good recipes. It isn't just for
cooking things without eggs though.
I found it wasn't really that hard to cut eggs out of my diet (I did it when
I became a Vegetarian at age 15). Just have to read the ingredients on
everything

There are egg replacers that you can use in regular recipes. I found one
here in the U.S. that comes in a large container or you can mix your own,
depending on why egg is in the particular recipe (to hold ingredients
together or to rise). Here's a article that I found with egg substitutes:
Here's more:
The last two have a list you can print out to keep with you when shopping
that tells you what ingredients to avoid in prepared products.

actually, cake without eggs is easy. look for recipes for
Wacky cake or Depression cake. if you can't find one, let me
know & i'll post one (mine is chocolate, but i've seen vanilla
& spice ones too)
as for cookbooks, look in the vegan section for egg-free
cookbooks.

Found this site... I haven't actually looked through each recipe, but it
says that these are cakes with no eggs...
Actually, it's got a variety of cakes with no eggs, and some of the
descriptions say no butter or whatever...
Might be worth browsing through?
