my dad and i recentely pulled an old wardrobe from the back of our
attic, we just found it, it came with the house... and realized it's
really old.
it's a bit scratched up and the lock a bit rusty but it opens and
closes fine, it's all very clean although very dusty. it needs alot of
work but i was wondering how much we could sell it for without any work
done to it as i do not have the time or the capital to fix it up
myself. and i don't have enough money to pay someone to assess it's
value bc we're very poor right now (welfare, foodstamps you name it)..
i don't really want to get into my personal life but i want to make
clear that i can't afford to pay a professional.
i cannot find any mark of who made it on there, then again i don't know
where to look. it's wooden with black material over it. the lock on it
says (with x=indistinguishable character) "CORBIN CABINET LOCK 0x NEW
BRITAIN CONN USA T 124" and the leather handle on the top says "F 808
1/2 43"
Pictures:
any information regarding it or direction to someone who might know
would be helpful,
thank you very much

Clean it with a damp rag and put it in your next yard sale.
Put a sign on it and say make offer.

Yup, as steamer trunks go, it's pretty ugly - no interesting travel
stickers; outside is pretty rough shape - might make a utilitarian
storage table/ottoman or something, though. From the outside, I
thought at first it was a military type footlocker, but the hangers and
dividers inside make it a steamer trunk, I think.
