Forest Duck...
I know this is a long shot but let's see.
I have an old milk pitcher white with blue flowers on each side.
The mark is a very faded what looks to be a cottage with a chimney on the
left side. a scroll underneath with some writing that begins with 2 letters
then 4 then1 then a fourth word with 4 or 5 letters. There appears to be a
small cloud or possibly flowers in upper right. There is some writing under
the scroll but I cannot deciper , even with a 20 power loupe.
I don't think my camera will pick up the mark but I will try.

sig didn't help, Bob. I looked last night in my marks books, and
can't come up with anything close to that description.

pwrbus...
Do you have access to a scanner? If you place the pitcher on a scanner
and scan it at a high resolution it can sometimes reveal marks that are
hard to see with the naked eye.
Just a suggestion.
Rhiannon

Forest Duck...
Thanks Rhiannon,
I tried with my scanner. Maybe a commercial job would work better. Mine
didn't come out clear. I buy cheap stuff. Ha!

Forest Duck...
You are always willing to help.
I'll keep searching
Can you trace it, then photograph/scan that?

Tape thin plastic to the bottom of the piece, then go to work with a fine
Sharpie.
OR....trace over it with something that will wash off later. I've ever
used soft
pencil to bring out marks when needed, then erased it later.

Forest Duck...
I have not yet found the ID of the mark.
I did find a great source of marks on the web however. If you have time
check it out at:
It is a free site and has 1000's of marks. I think I will give up.
(impatient) and just sell the d--- pitcher. Who knows. Maybe someone will
get the buy of the century. Ha!
Thanks for all the help.

good sites Marie. I'm sorry I could not find my mark. My eyes are blurry

Forest Duck...
Thanks Marie,
Back to the web I go.

from looking.

Kris Baker...
I think the next step is to cruise "that big online auction site", and
look for identically-shaped pieces.

Marie Forjan...
I know what you mean, I was looking for a German mark last night. I must
have gone to 15 web sites with no luck. But once in a while I get lucky
and find what I need. Half the fun is in the running down information
and learning something new.
