Found a "thing." If the verbal doesn't ring a bell, I'll get a photo up
this weekend.
Cast metal sort of stand. The stand-up front is a high relief image of a
horse and rider in formal habit going over a hurdle and a horseshoe.

So no relation to horses then, but sold to aspirational lower-middle
class Hyacinth Buckets who thik that horses add class.

About a foot tall. Nice iridescent metalic bronze colored finish. Front

Fire iron stand. I _hate_ this colour.

is supported upright on a half-round base. Attached behind the front
piece near the top rear is a metal loop with flat hooks extending to the
rear.

No doubt you're likely correct. I got fixated on the equestrian theme
and was trying to think of some horsey use.
(And that's Bu-que')

My impression is that something could stand within the loop with the
lower end resting within a raised cup in the base. Purpose of hooks
unknown. Design number cast in, 890482, and "DES" doesn't jibe with US
design patent numbers for any object like this. No maker mark.
Nothing of any great value, but I'd like to know what it was for.

Could it hang on a wall, and hold water hoses to clean out stables?
Part of a trophy, or a trophy stand?

Can't wait to see the image(s)
