Hi, I'm sure you get lots of these kind of queries so I apologize in
advance. I've spent the last 2 hours searching the web trying to find
out what these marks mean on the bottom of a green pottery bowl I got
at a thrift store but I can't find any place that lists marks or makers
so I'm hoping someone here will know a place to search or can tell me
more about this bowl. If there is a site that helps find out makers
marks I would love to know. If you know anything about the marks " USA
CALIF B 273 0" means, or doesn't mean, I would be very grateful. If
this is an incredibly annoying post please don't flame me, just ignore
me.

How could we ignore such a charming post? Welcome, Betsy.

You're welcome.
I knew I "recognized" it ;)

Hi, Betsy
I think we're seeing the same thing. These relish/snack sets were big -
usually 4, 5, or 6 trays around the outside with a dip bowl in the middle.
Most I see, do have "Calif" on the back.....so when you're out looking,
look for similar bowls in different colors AND for the little trays that
would fit around the bowls.

Round bowl, kinda lettucy edges? I think you may have the center
bowl of a snack/relish tray set.

The best resource I can think of, would be Jack Chipman's
"California Pottery" book. It may explain the mark OR show your
item.
