This is a neat but somewhat beat up teapot. Is it possible to tell when
it was made? If it belonged to a certain ship? Any info would be
appreciated. It is not marked USN on the bottom, just the eagle and USN
on the front.
Here's some pics:
Thanks! (this is my first post here : )

I've talked to WWII Navy guys about the stuff before, the response is
near always, "that's what the officers got to use." I'm with the
others, it'll sell and bring a good price for banged up silverplate.
In a way it restores my faith in collectors being able to grasp that at
times history is more important than showroom condition.

Unless there are other markings, you really can't tell what ship
it's from (or even IF it's from a ship). Most Naval facilities are land-
based. It's silverplate, not silver (due to the lack of markings).
The US Navy website may show logos, or maybe we have an
ex-Navy guy here who can tell you.

I can't tell you much about this particular piece but, for some reason,
they're fairly popular at a certain online auction site. I had a sugar
bowl about the same vintage with similar, kind of crude, USN marking in
what I called poor condition that sold for $35 ($33 more than I thought
it was worth) a little over a year ago. Sorry I never learned anything
else about it.
