Peter...
Many here have mentioned having a shop of their own, now or in the past.
I have recently joined that club.
I own an old school building and I opened a flea market & consignment
shop in the gymnasium about six weeks ago.
I'm in a fairly rural community about 20 miles from a small city.
Stated with 2 vendors (aside from my wife and I) and am now up to 6.
We've been averaging 200 -300 customers each weekend.
My question is about advertising. What is most effective on a limited
budget?
I'm currently in 4 newspapers and just dropped a small bundle on forty
30 second radio spots over the next couple of weeks.
Most of the people I ask, say they saw the signs I've posted on local roads.
Am I wasting money on radio and display ads?
Thanks for any insights you may have.
Peter

This is just my wrong opinion, but, since you are in a rural community,
you are probably well know by the locals. The locals will tell out of
towners how to find you. Keep the signs and drop the rest and paint
your school a bright RED or Yellow or some other bright color, so
people can spot you easily. Carry good items and word of mouth will
spread your reputation for you..... imo

Are you near an interstate? I know that when I travel and need a
break I look for exits that not only have gas, food, etc. but also a
handy antique shop.
