Hi Everyone,
I am taking a break from chairs for a while (Thank you all for your
help), and am having a short foray into irons. I really need a few
good sites on the net for names/dating etc. Have had a bit of a web-search
without any luck.
I wonder, does anyone have any favourites in that line they are able
to share????

I always thought these were cool:
I think they came in different glass colors, too. Or perhaps it
was the guts that came in several colors. Nevertheless, a great
design.

There was a fabulous design exhibition which I saw at the Metropolitan
Museum in New York in 2000: "American Modern, 1925-1940 - Design for a
New Age".
They had the Sparton Bluebird blue glass radio, the Electrolux vacuum
cleaner, some neat electric clocks, and lots of furniture, textiles,
metalware and ceramics.
Here's the museum page with some images from the exhibit:

I keep striking these Sad irons, and wonder what that means, for
example. And do I call those things with tanks on them Petrol irons or
Shellite irons, or spirit irons. That sort of thing.

Linda.... have a look at:
It is the same shape and size as your 'iron'. Perhaps the center core
of an iron that has a more decorative outer case attached with the handle?

Pottering aorund with Mrs Potts (I assume that is an international
name for a group of particular irons) in a large Australian museum.
