Boston and Sandwich? Mt. Washington? Could use some input on two old pieces. :)

eglass...
Good morning!

I found a couple of pretty neat pieces this weekend, and although my
reference library takes 3 shelves up in our old bookcase, apparently I
don't have the ONE that I need. Maybe someone else out there has seen
or has owned a piece similar and can give me some input on maker and
date.

This Jack in the Pulpit Vase is small, only about 8" tall. I've found
similar pieces online that claim Boston and Sandwich as a maker, while
others claim Mt. Washington. Opal glass, with an oxblood treatment on
the top? The pontil is unfinished.

This second piece is about 11" tall, and is "clear" glass with pulled
red loops and opalescent top - but the "clear" part is really a pale
green, and glows under my little handheld blacklight. Ground and
polished pontil, a couple of tiny pieces of ash or whatever in the
glass. The owner swore both pieces were from the US, and were
great-grandpa's (we've all heard that ad nauseum so please take that
with a grain of salt).

I'm a seller on eBay as well as a collector, you can see us under user
name "enchantmentglass".

Thanks for your help, in advance?

In searching for "Pairpoint museum" I found one in River Edge, NJ. and
one on Cape Cod.

The one on Cape Cod is the Pairpoint Glass Works in Sagamore, that looks

"Pairpoint Crystal was founded as the Mount Washington Glass Co. back in
1837. In 1894, it merged with the Pairpoint Silver Co. to gain the name
of Pairpoint. To this day, we have the highest standards of
craftsmanship, beauty and quality, and utilize many of the formulas and
techniques that have shaped the products that have passed down from
generation to generation. Our glassblowers, many of whom hail from
Europe, continue to produce objects of great beauty, by hand, one at a
time, in our factory alongside the Cape Cod Canal. You are invited to
view them weekdays. Our gift shop is open seven days a week; we hope
you'll stop in at Pairpoint Crystal next time you're here!"

It might be worth a trip just to watch the glass blowing. It doesn't say
anything about having a display of old glass though.

Darn!

Several years ago I went to NovaScotian Crystal in Halifax, nothing
old, but it was fun to watch the production. When I was there they
were doing cutting, watching the hand cutting process was educational.

Hi Kelli,

Jessica V....
Wow, Kelli....I'm really happy to have been wrong on this one! I have
intentions of going to the Sandwich Museum this summer, hopefully I'll
garner more exposure to the oddities of B&S there. My mind too goes to
the "typical" not the more whimsical.

All I did was web-search "Fenton" and "Jack in the pulpit" ;)
ABQ's not exactly a one-horse town.

Been there lots, not far from here

The first vase looks much more like Mt. Washington to me than Boston &
Sandwich, but it could be Pairpoint as well or an English piece or,
or, or. The second one screams Bohemia to me, but I could be wrong on
that count too.
