Yesterday I found in a junky Antique shop a pewter shot glass which
says "Just a thimble full." On the bottom is William Adams in script
under that English Pewter, next line made by Crafts, next line
something England. The last line is tiny and almost gone but it may
say Staffordshire England. I can find lots of information about Adams
china but nothing much about metal products. Ronnie, are you here and
can you help me with this? anyone?

Can't really help with the "William Adams" or the "made by Crafts" - it
could be "Staffordshire" but being _pewter_ may guess more likely it
reads "Sheffield England" - these appear not only in pewter, but
plated-ware, glass, pottery and even silver. Usually in the form of a
(sewing)thimble (but not always) - be they a real "shot glass" or just a
whiskey measure they are more than likely, for the most part, just a
pure novelty item. And I've always been under the impression, sometimes
can be an advertising item, but the "just a thimble full" inscription
would usually be accompanied by some form of a brand name.

After much peering and tilting and a better light I think it is
Sheffield. I also have a glass one and they are in the shape of a
sewing thimble. Thanks,

PS I paid $2.50 for it so it is a deal no matter what it is!
