Went to the local used stuff store to get a Frugal Gormet cookbook,
found one for $3. And while I was there I found a good little, old
frying pan in ready to cook condition, slick as a baby's bottom
for $5. Amazing. Well, OK, you may not be amazed, it's just that
I had just thought the other day that it would be handy to have one
and BAM!, there it was.
I gave the inside a quick sandpapering. And the back is greasy in
the photo because I had just smeared some on there, just for
the rustproofing value of it.
Really this is no big deal except it was just weird to find one just
like that,
with no effort at all. If I had known I was going to be so lucky today
I
would have gone out for a lottery ticket instead.
Eggs over easy anybody?

Just thought I'd say ... did you know that the heat ring on the bottom
of your pan probably means it was made before 1930? The ring was
meant to distribute heat more evenly on the old coal-burning ranges.
But when those newfangled electric stoves came in, the rings got
caught in their coils. Manufacturers then went to smooth-bottomed
skillets.

You went and found TWO things on your list? You should have
stocked up on Powerball. It's time for you New Mexicans to win,
you know.
