An error led CTV to air episode 2 of Grey's Anatomy last night instead of the season premiere

Due to a satellite feed error at the source, CTV has inadvertently
delivered episode No. 2 of Grey's Anatomy Season 3 which was broadcast
tonight at 8 p.m. As a result, CTV will broadcast Episode One in its
entirety on a special day and time which will be announced shortly.

Is Canadian TV very error prone? This summer they also air a future episode
of "Treasure Hunters" by mistake.

I think it's just CTV. They basically bite off way more than they can
chew, as they air too many shows that air on different US networks at the
same time.

I'm really surprised it's out on the feed a week early. That seems
an error on the part of the US network.

Wait, that's what the original poster is quoting. (And I'm not being
sarcastic, I just noticed that it says "at the source".)

Time will tell how lucky we are. CTV aired the last season of The
Sopranos over a three week period (airing at 10pm most weeknights
for that period), and the night of the shooting here in Montreal
they didn't air it. I was expecting some big announcement to let
us know when it would air, but never saw any. Suddenly I turn
on the tv set at a time I wasn't expecting it, and saw the last
few minutes of the last episode.

No. They run what the Americans send them. Since the Americans don't
send them shows much in advance, the mixup had to be on the American
end.

There was an article this morning in the paper about this. (And they
said the first episode would air this coming Thursday.)

CTV aired it at 8pm, while ABC aired it at 9pm. CTV wanted to air
CSI at 9pm in parallel with the CBS airing of the show (which suggests
they rate CSI higher than Grey's Anatomy).

WHat doesn't make sense is how the second episode was out there on the
feed a week ahead of time.

If they are as good with Grey's Anatomy, most people will miss
the "special broadcast".
