4.0. Veronica managed to con me too, and that's what you want the writing
of a show to be able to do. *

0-1 stars (police station, afternoon)

I wasn't too impressed with this episode.

4.75 IMO. Just a few nits to pick though, i.e. if Duncan and the Baby
were next door to Veronica, what are the chances of the Baby not crying
and Keith hearing?
shawn...
|
I don't think the baby was there, or at least not for very long. The
baby was probably on the way south with the blonde haired girl, or the
detective.
pv+usenet...
|
Right. The baby was in the pickup when Duncan showed up on the road after
getting the ride in Lamb's trunk. *
|
|
After seeing the debris in the trunk of his cruiser, wouldn't the
Sheriff know he'd been played by Veronica and arrest her?
George Avalos...
|
Not necessarily. It could have been attributed to a typical Mexican ripoff.
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Likely they wanted him to know; this way he won't tell anybody he got the
guy across the border.

And that he concealed evidence from the FBI (use of Veronica's ATM
card in Mexico)? Major loss of face, plus being cut out of the case.
I've never had a trunk come open on its own after I closed it.
pv+usenet...
|
By law, modern vehicles have to have an inside trunk release. I'm sure that
applies to police cars as well. *
pv+usenet...
|
OK, OK, the joke has been made. *
|
|
Therefore, I think Duncan (under Veronica's instructions) had somehow
rigged it to come open after the car's next major jolts or after a
delay, just so Sheriff Lamb would see the contents, figure out how
he'd been played, *and* keep quiet about the situation.
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
It looked like the lock had been broken and was being held shut from inside.
Once that was released, the trunk would pop open with a big jolt.
|
E Brown...
|
Nah - he looked at the latch after seeing that someone had been in
the trunk. Apparently Duncan or Veronica had to damage it so they
Duncan could get out later, and there was no way to rig it to stay
closed. Of course, some modern cars come with a handle inside to you
can get out if you're somehow locked in your own trunk.
But this will make Lamb interesting to deal with. He's going to
hate Veronica even more now because he can't tell anyone he was played
by a high school girl.
I give this ep a 5 - it's the best one of the season. I liked
Lawless' chat with Lamb about becoming an agent, Veronica playing
everyone, and Lamb being the only one who didn't under-estimate her
and *still* getting played. And hey, the loss of Duncan - can't beat
that with a stick.

He has no way to connect Veronica with that debris. He can guess that
Duncan might have been in the trunk, but that would only mean that
Duncan played him. Perhaps Duncan stole VM's ATM card and arranged for
someone to use it in Mexico.
|
Was the other P.I. in on this from the beginning? If so, was Celeste in
on it, too?
George Avalos...
|
I'd say no to the P.I. (since he seemed to be trying in private
conversations
ANIM8Rfsk...
|
Yeah, I think he got in on it when she gave him the note.
|
|

|
It's hard to say, but I don't think so. I believe that Celeste really
did hire the PI to find Duncan, but somewhere along the way he changed
his role. Perhaps when Veronica left the note with him?

Who was the other blond, the decoy? Have we seen her before or was the

I believe it was Celeste Kane's assistant.

a-HA! The one who may or may not have been her daughter?
|
Have we seen her before or was the first time in the pick-up?
Someone else somewhere else posted she appeared about 2 episodes
ago.(which of course, is far more than 2 weeks ago)
|
first time in the pick-up?
shawn...
|
Yeah, we saw her earlier in this episode with Celeste and she's had at
least one other episode where she played a large part.

Pretty hard to find anything negative to say about this episode. The
best one of the season IMO. The plot twists and turns were coming
so fast that I found it hard to keep up. My reaction at the end was to
think, "I need to watch that one again!" Loved the interactions
between
the FBI agents, Lamb, and Veronica. I even thought the music worked
well for a change, especially when Lamb was chasing Duncan's ghost
through Mexico. The only weak parts were those involving the PCBers
and Logan. With such a great main plotline, that stuff just got in the
way.

I really enjoyed this one. I'll have to watch it again....
I missed the first few minutes and there were a lot of small things that
went by...

4.0
This one loses points because I saw the 'bait & switch' vis a vis
Veronica's role coming a mile away.
This one also loses points with me for the same reason Laddy mentioned -
I was really hoping Meg would prove to be alive (the scene at the end
would have had *much* more impact if that had been Meg in the truck,
rather than Celeste's P.A.).
However, it gains points elsewhere - the "You played *me*, Veronica!"
scene with Keith rocked, I liked the Logan-Weevil subplot, and even the
Wallace revelation was interesting. This episode also did do a good job
at tying all the loose ends together.
And any episode that (seemingly) unloads Duncan forever can't be all
bad! :)
