American Idol, the 800-pound gorilla of TV, keeps on getting
better.

Last night's premiere of season 6 drew 37 million viewers, the most
for the show since the 2003 season finale (Clay vs. Ruben).

It was believed to have been the most-watched season premiere in
the history of Fox.

Proving yet once again that the sheeple will watch anything, as long as

Heh. To put things into perspective, American Idol was only watched by
~20% of the entire nation (source zap2it.com). That may sound like a
lot, but there was a time when the weekly episode of Star Trek was
watched by the same percentage. And Cosby Show used to hover around
30% week-after-week.

The M*A*S*H finale was watched by over 60%.

In comparison Idol's 20% is just a drop in the pan.

American Idol is not music, it's nothing more than a glorified Karaoke
contest.

But at least it pads FOX's bottom line, which is all I care about.
