Is TV suppose to reflect real life?

When I watch TV shows, I wonder if my own life is supposed to measure
up, for instance my relationship with my wife is fine, but we don't
have "adventures" or clever dialogue like, for instance, when I watch
"Dharma and Greg".

What are your thoughts about this?

Everyone on TV is always so happy they never get bored or depressed I
guess what I'm asking is this the way real life is suppose to be?

My Mom was for some reason thrilled when THE WONDER YEARS came on,
because now she'd be able to see just like it was for me growing up!

Um, well, The Wonder Years wasn't any closer to my lift than Malcolm in
the Middle was.
