Last year, both of them were in the opening (series) credits, which
is how "regular cast member" is typically defined. So both of them
were regular cast members, not recurring guests.

whatever...

Not really. I'm referring to the *series* credits (a.k.a. the "opening
credits"). The part where they play the theme song, and list all of
the regular cast members. I'm not referring to the episode-specific
credits (a.k.a. the "lead credits") which run after the opening credits.

The rule of thumb regarding credits is:

"Regulars" are listed in opening (series) credits -- which is where
the Casablancas boys were listed in Season 2.

"Guest stars" (whether recurring or not) are listed in the lead
(episode) credits -- which is where the Casablancas boys were listed
in Season 1.

What is this show's definition of "regular"? 'Cause this guy had a spot
in the opening credits last season with the rest of the series regulars.

Beats me. At Comic-Con last week, Thomas introduced Hansen as
becoming a regular this season in pretty much the same breath that he
confirmed (again) the news that Tina Majorino (Mac) is a regular for
s3, forgetting that Hansen has been in the opening credits for the
entire second season.

I guess they're using the term in a generic sense to mean he's going to
be featured more prominently than before.

Nice try, but nope. They were introducing Hansen in the technical
sense of the term "regular cast member" (ie: opening credits regular)
in the same annoucement that they'd added Majorino and Muhney as
regulars.

are: Michael Cera booked a movie, as of Friday, but they just booked
Ali Shawkat for an episode. MIA: Charisma Carpenter is in the first
ep, but Rob didn't elaborate when asked about her specifically
(hinting she's MIA after that). As for Madison Sinclair, Rob says, 'I
loved writing her on the show, but I think she's gone to USC.' "
