24: Best to Worst seasons

2, 1, 5, 4, 3

2 - as I recall, pretty solid overall

1 - maybe not perfect, but the original, and definitely exciting,
despite Hopper's terrible accent and the amnesia

5 - Great moments ruined by inconsistent writing

4 - Would have been 3rd, but loses points for the ridiculously
convoluted Marwan plot, among other things.

3 - This season really lost me when they turned the whole plot on its
ear about 1/3 through. I don't think I ever really regained respect for it.

#1. S1 (yes, I know it was flawed, esp. in the second half, but it sill
came first, and so I still have a lot of fondness for it;
also, the best final 10 seconds of any season finale in
the past 10 years...)

#2. S4 (best, and most consistent, overall "ride")

#3. S2 (sagged in the second half (the Palmer-Cabinet idiocy was
responsible for much of this), and "the mountain lion" season,
but still the most solid first 15 episodes of any season;
also the second best final 10 seconds of any season finale
in the last decade)

#4. S3 (terrible, *terrible* first half, but perked up significantly
in the 2nd half with the hotel virus and Stephen Saunders)

#5. S5 (pretty decent first half, but the second half of the season
was a disaster of implausibilities, lame villains and
stilted action; worst season by far)

Exactly... but my experience with some fan boards, message groups, etc. is
they only want to hear what they perceive as positive things. They forget
that, for some, discussing the plot holes and trying to come up with the
what about this or that, *is* part of the entertainment. ;-)

JoB...

I agree... it's possible it could be 1,3,2,4,5... but I honestly disliked
season 4 for reasons that just heightened in Season 5. The question, itself,
is a little redundant, though, because everytime I've seen it asked, the
majority of people like the most recent season the best.

Just in terms of how they grabbed me or how exciting I found them. I'm not
rating the writing here. If I did, they'd all be squished into the number 5
slot.
