(see subject)
Comcast charges $8 for limited service (local tv). Subscriber fees are
between 25-50 cents, so I figure Comcast would charge the customer
about $1 more for each additional channel added (if Cable choice/
alacarte becomes mandated by the FCC). The channels I would choose
are:
TNT - reruns of great movies
SCIFI- original series like Stargate, Galactica, Eureka, Dresden
FNC - to offset the left-leaning nbc/abc/cbs news
HST - I love history documentaries
That's about it. Around $12 a month.
A lot cheaper than paying $45 a month for basic!

SciFi...........................Battlestar Galactica, and Lexx if they show
it again
Discovery...................Occasional informative shows that don't include
motorcycles
History.......................Dogfights (yes!!!!)
National Geographic...Countdown to Disaster
Cartoon......................Pointless shows that are entertaining, but I do
not have to think about. GO TEAM VENTURE!

I suspect that would not work. 2/3rd of 50 would be 33 channels. That
would not be any cheaper than the standard ~$45 a month basic package.
Alacarte is meant to benefit people who only watched 10 or fewer cable
channels (note I said cable, not broadcast). It's a third option:
- Limited (15 channels)
- Basic (60 channels)
- Alacare (15 + choose you own channels)

I've never heard this. I tried to get JUST sci-fi added to a limited
15-channel lineup, and Comcast said, "Nope, can't do it."
