I have downloaded some episodes of BSG, Stargate SG1 and Stargate SGA.
I'm surprised at how good it looks on my PC. I have a fairly high
powered PC with the top of the line Gateway wide screen LCD monitor.
The monitor can also be used as a HDTV. When I play an episode and use
the "fit to screen" option it fills my wide screen monitor and the
quality looks good. I'm wondering if Itunes is really giving me a wide
screen picture, or is it just doing a good job of making a 4:3 video
look good. Does anyone know?

Everything I've DL'd from iTunes was 4:3 even if the show was 16:9, and
it I used a command that gave me a wide screen picture, I'd be looking

I'm not seeing short fat people and the picture seems as sharp as
regular broadcasts even tho it fills the screen.
I normally use my PC to watch TV. The signal comes from a Directv
receiver and goes thru a DVD burner. The connection from the receiver
is SVideo and the connection from the DVD burner is component. I do
see a small black bar on regular broadcasts of these shows. On regular
broadcasts I have noticed that I see what is lost to overscan on
regular 4:3 TVs

If you're asking whether bytes are wasted on black bars for the top or
bottom of the screen, the answer is no: the digital video format is
anamorphic. The video quality may be attributable to H.264, which is (I
think) the codec used for iTunes Store videos.
