Barney ad ... creepy!

What's the deal with the creepy Barney the Dinosaur ad? Barney's been
annoying, cloying and irritating in the past, but never ... creepy.

There's some tv commercial where a mom is dealing with her kids at home and
Barney is laughing in the room entertaining the kids and there's music
playing in the background and a tv when suddenly the phone starts ringing
and the mom asks Barney to answer the phone--suddenly he stops laughing, tho
the phone keeps ringing, the music stops but the phone keeps ringing, the
mom stops her work and stares at Barney who stares back, while the phone
keeps ringing.

It. Looks. Creepy. And eerie. Like being in an empty circus and running into
a clown.

I've seen that ad. The little boy sitting on the floor looks like he's
WAY too old for Barney, and WAY too old to have his mother (or Barney,
or anybody else) tie his shoes for him.

Of course the real sad part, like a lot of commercials, I couldn't tell you
the product that's suppose to be sold to save my life.

It gets creepier... the commercial is actually for one of the cable TV
companies-- I'm pretty sure it's Comcast. The message is, esentially,
that by parking your kids in front of the TV, Barney will be your
babysitter, and your life will be easier.
