Sorry if this has been brought up but shouldn't there have been
Christmas decorations and other holiday themed things going on in this
episode, at least in the background? They said Santos wouldn't be
President for about a month so its the middle or end of December in show
time.

Stan Brown...
As I recall they said "almost two months", which would put them at
late November or very early December.

Perhaps the Bartlets don't hold with the department-store practice of
putting up Xmas decorations before Halloween. Traditionally Xmas

Or perhaps the producers are trying to downplay the fact that the
show is currently in the holiday season, since Thanksgiving and
Christmas festivities would seem out of place to us in May.

decos, especially the tree and pine ropes and such, were put up not
long before Xmas, and then stayed up till January 6 (Twelfth Night).

David...
In "West Wing"s universe the War On Christmas was won.

Rich...
He doesn't come across as a devout anything.
"Lets send our kid to a Washington D.C. public school!"
How many Secret Service agents could they spare??

Just like the fundamentalist right is supposedly in charge IRL, the fundamentalist left
are in charge in WW.

Which is why I said 'supposedly' in the original post.

"Just like the fundamentalist right is supposedly in charge IRL, the fundamentalist left
are in charge in WW. "

I personally believe that the huge majority of folks are 'middle of the road' blase.
