Who else is looking for refuge during this time of year? :)

It really depends more on where you live. I spent a couple weeks
visiting the folks (with very limited Internet access) and was
shocked to see that 90% of the commercials there were political
ads (the ratio is reversed here at home).

People claiming 90% political ads are exagerating. TV stations only get so

Nope, I wasn't exagerating.

During the 6 o'clock news, yes; 80-90% easily, and nearly all of them
negative, many of them answer ads.

Sure, but 6 o'clock news is before primetime and is, logically, going to be
devoted to local commercial time. The only 'national' ads on at that time
are probably the network promos for the primetime lineup that night.
|
One thing they don't run are those "payattention.org" ads for things
like frozen peas or little cute dog. The stations are making a fortune
and don't want to do anything to jeopardize it.

much ad space for 'local' ads. I doubt that the TV stations are pulling the
national network ads just to make space for more local ads and I doubt that
many local political races are advertising nationally. There is no
Peresidential vote this year, so the only national ads would be the 'vote
for R' or 'vote for D' type generic ads. Even this time of year, Chevy
probably takes up more ad time than politics.

Excluding public access and public TV
what cable (or satellite) channels have the least number of political
commercials.

The channel with the fewest annoying commericals of any kind is DVR.

I second that. Even I'm getting annoyed by all the political ads, and I
have a Tivo. I feel bad for people who actually have to watch them at
normal speed.
