CHUM TV Acquires "Rachael Ray"
Dynamic television personality and best-selling author Rachael Ray's new
daily, one-hour talk show, is coming to CHUM Television this fall.
"Rachael Ray" will premiere in September, 2006.
Dubbed by Newsweek as "the most down-to-earth TV star on the planet,"
and by Entertainment Weekly as "the next domestic goddess," Rachael Ray
is already a familiar face to millions of TV viewers as host of the Food
Network's popular series, 30-Minute Meals, $40 a Day, Inside Dish and
Tasty Travels.
She's also the best-selling author of eleven cookbooks and her new,
monthly magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray, premiered in the fall of 2005.
"CHUM Television is thrilled to obtain the Canadian rights for Rachael
Ray. Rachael can relate to her audience in a way few people can," said
Ellen Baine, Vice President, Programming, CHUM Television. "The new show
will be a great addition to CHUM's daytime schedule."
An amazing talent with a sincere positive energy, infectious smile and
dynamic personality, she's already made a mark for herself with a legion
of fans. The new series, to be based in New York City, will be produced
by King World Productions, in association with Harpo Productions,
Scripps Networks, Inc. and WATCH Entertainment, Inc. and internationally
distributed by CBS Paramount International Television. Ray will continue
to appear on the Food Network.
"People know me for my love of food, but I have so much more I want to
share," said Rachael Ray. "Our show's going to be all about taking a
bigger bite out of life. I want people to see themselves in this show,
because life is full of messes and successes, and getting there is half
the fun."
Rachael Ray got her start in television doing a weekly segment,
30-Minute Meals, for the evening news on WRGB-TV in Albany, NY. Her TV
work grew to include a series of lifestyle and travel segments following
the theme of, "You do not have to be wealthy to lead a rich life." The
Food Network picked up 30-Minute Meals in November 2001, after seeing
Rachael on The Today Show.
