Considering the source it may not be true but even if it is, more power
to her!! Why would this make her "eccentric"?. She has the resources to
step back and reevaluated her life and her priorities. She is just
doing it on a bigger scale than the average Joe/Josie.

It's hardly that remote. Nothing in that area is truly remote.

Maybe it's "eccentric" to supposedly turn your back on a Hollywood
career. But her is over, anyway.

Why is her career over? Why did Debra Winger's take such a nosedive in
her time as well? What about Karen Allen? There are scores of actresses
who did quite well and were very popular and then they disappered. Is
someone kidnapping them? It can't just be age...can it?

Yes, it can be. Some stay home to raise kids and therefore disappear.

I'd say in Ryan's case, it's age and limited talents (that she parlayed
into great success) but the party is over.

By the way, most Chinese girls being adopted aren't orphans, they are
abandoned due to lack of desire for girl children along with the
government's one-child policy.

i was looking at pics on imdb in 2005. I think it's a combination of
gaining weight and some check implants. Plus she's limited in her
range as an actress. she does not have the depth that Nkidman has.

Well, many women seek elusive happiness by "having" (one way or another) a
child.
She will get moments of joy and moments of pain, naturally, but maybe
happiness if she works to raise a happy child.
The choice of name makes me believe her ego is too big to sacrifice it for
the welfare of her child.
If you are the daughter of a famous fruit cake, the stigma of a name is
nothing to compare.

Yup, the child has to pay for Meg Ryan's overinflating ego. Totally
unjustified for a 40+ over the hill actress. Heck, even Julia Roberts with
her weird kid names isn't justified though her career is still at a peak.
It's pure child abuse!
