doctor...
Take this to new heights.

To me Madame de Pompadour should great respect and admiration
for The Doctor. In fact she becomes part of the mystery.

Queen Victoria was very unrateful to banish the Doctor.

Madame de Pompadour so far wins the empathy vote
hand down for me.

pbowles...
What empathy vote? If, on the other hand, there's a vote on which was
the better-played character and which brought her historical persona to
life more convincingly, for me there's no contest - Queen Victoria wins
easily, while Mme de Pompadour was an entirely fictional creation of
Moffatt's who just happened to have been given the name and life
history of Reinette Poisson.

doctor...
Popadour was a real life person. Still Poisson still

David Johnston...
And his point was, he didn't find her depiction on the show to be
convincing.

Still Poisson still

showed more englightened ideas than did HM Queen Victoria.

David Johnston...
Frankly the Doctor and Rose were a lot nicer to her than they were to
Queen Victoria. You didn't see them making jokes while Reinette's
life was in danger.

doctor...
All right, I find the Doctor was trying to protect both.

David Johnston...
But the Doctor never lied to Reinette, and Rose never mocked her to
her face.

Pampadour was grateful.

The Queen booted then, but Rose was pusihing an issue.
Still Queen Victoria should have taken the higher ground.
