Distracting actors in "24"

Dawnie...
Most of the time I'm so caught up in the action, but sometimes I can't
help being reminded of the roles I remember the actors best for: Tom
Lennox as "The Eel" from Chicago Hope, Wayne Palmer as the Principal

David Loewe, Jr....
Not an Ally McBeal or Numb3rs fan I take it?

Dawnie...
Just older . I liked Ally McBeal well enough in its earlier years,
and I watched Numb3rs until they wrote out Sabrina Lloyd (whom I know
from Sliders, but remember best from Sports Night.)

Garondo Marondo...
His Chicago Hope role will always be the first one I think of when
seeing him if only for the way he exited the show.

Dawnie...
Yup. Pity, that. He was really good as The Eel. Chicago Hope was
never as good as their original cast, many of whom were replaced in
later seasons.

Tony Calguire...
I was a Chicago Hope fan, but I don't remember the actor Tom Lennox or any

David Loewe, Jr....
Tom Lennox is the character played by Peter MacNichol on 24 this
season. The references are to characters, not actors.

Dawnie...
Right, sorry for the confusion. Peter MacNicol plays Tom Lennox, D.
B. Woodside plays Wayne Palmer, and James Morrison plays Bill
Buchanan.

character called "The Eel".

Dawnie...
"The Eel's" character name was Alan Birch, if that jogs your memory.
And he was only in the first two seasons of Chicago Hope.

Tony Calguire...
I remember MacNicol very well from Chicago Hope... I was just confused by
all the actor names and character names (and nicknames) being thrown
around. Sorry about that.

(And nobody's even used the word "Biscuit" yet! :-)

record hunter...
Was "Biscuit" the name the judge made him call himself?

KC...
No, "The Biscuit" was his character's nickname on Ally McBeal. The
judge on Chicago Hope made him say "I am a toad."

Dave...
The judge made him face the court and say "I am a toad",
as I recall.

David Loewe, Jr....
Can't help you there - I never watched Chicago Hope.

in Buffy, Bill Buchanan as the Lt. Col. in Space: Above And Beyond. I
can't help but compare them to their earlier roles, and sometimes it's
distracting. Anyone else?

cloud dreamer...
Last night, I was waiting for Shaun Majumder to crack a joke.

Uniblab...
I'd much rather see Peter MacNicol in something lighter - put him on "Boston

Capricorne...
Yeah. In Numb3rs, he was good. I was wondering why he left the
show. Now I know.

David Loewe, Jr....
He hasn't left the show. He's taking an in season break to do another
project (like William Petersen is on CSI).

Legal".

Patty Winter (patty1...
He provides a fair bit of comic relief on "NUMB3RS," although he
also has some very thoughtful or touching scenes.

Dawnie...
Actually they did, as a guest star, anyway. IMDB lists MacNicol as
appearing in Boston Legal, episode "Race Ipsa" as Dr. Sydney Field.

whodunit...
He was already a lawyer in Ally McBeal in Boston--perfect! :-)

But whenever I see Mia Kirshner in The L Word, I think "there's Naked

Capricorne...
There's also Carlo Rota who is currently playing in Little
Mosque on the Prairie.

Mandy!"

Russell Watson...
I don't watch "24" but have the same disconnect with other shows. I
love "The Shield" but never could really get into season 4 because the
one-season inclusion of someone as high-profile as Glenn Close in a
move that reeked of "stunt casting" IMO was too distracting. I was
just getting used to her as the Monica character when the 13 eps were
done. Last season was a bit off because of Forrest Whittaker, not
because he's him so much as the foaming at the mouth, scenery chewing
way he played his IA character.

Sean Walsh...
You forgot Dr. Julian Bashir!!

Brett A. Pasternack...
I haven't quite gotten Dawnie to give Trek a chance yet. B^)

OscartheGrouch...
Space: Above and Beyond. That's where I know Buchanon from. Good show, too
short lived. Back when Chris Carter (X-Files) seemed to be ruling the
airwaves. He had like 4 shows on about that time.

fred_h_haddad...
Not all at the same time.
- He had X-Files and Millenium.
- Then after Millenium, he had X-Files/ Lone Gunmen.
- 2 at once. 3 in total.

Joss Whedon also had 3 shows:
- Buffy and Angel (concurrently).
- Firefly (later).

And so did J.Michael Stracyznski.
- Babylon 5
- Crusade.
- Legend of the Rangers (never went past the pilot).

Hmmm.

Interesting how these things come in threes.

Garondo Marondo...
Space: Above and Beyond wasn't a Cris Carter show, it was created by
MOrgan & Wong who worked on the X-Files for many years and after Space:
Above and Beyond was cancelled came back to work for Carter and took
over Millennium.
