Yes, all four characters were hilarious and I enjoyed watching the
series, but let's be serious about something. All four characters as
people were complete assholes. Seriously.

Assholes? Yes perhaps during the last 1-2 years, but not for most of
the show. Seinfeld was just a 'normal' guy. George was too, albeit
lazy. Elaine was normal. Kramer was the only one who I would label
'asshole'.

because of the most ridiculous perceived faults; obsession with

Yeah, but that was when the show was nearing the end & was in decline
(jumped the shark). Seinfeld was at its best when the character
Seinfeld was a straight-man.
