You had to be there. And they rerun the show enough for people to catch
the great segment again after my post. I was looking for people that
have seen it, not trying to tell people why the segment was so good.

You didn't have to be their to understand why it was so funny. They
had a guy trying to defend why New Jersey requires full service and
his reasons were the typical doublespeak that politicians use. Then
the DS made fun of one of his comments about people being able to use
self service stations if they start from birth, but the New Jersey
citizens don't get that exposure, and that makes them smarter. (Yes it
makes no sense,but it's just about what the guy said.)

It's obvious. To give employment to the bottom rung of society,
instead of having them on the NJ or OR dole.

Whenever I go to NJ or OR I pump my own gas. The attendants sometimes
yell but I don't care. They are sooooo sloooooow. I can have my car
almost full of gas before the attendants even notice I'm there.

Why should I wait 10 minutes for full service, when I can do
self-service in only 3?

I also jump over the counter and grab the fries myself when I go to
Burger King. No sense waiting for them to get anything for me.

Not the same thing. It takes some (minimal) skill to cook the fries &
make sure they are cooked just long enough, but not too long, and with
just the right amount of salt.

There's no skill required to pump gas.
I can do it myself.
I HAVE been doing it myself since I was 16.

Screw the NJ or OR attendants. I can be almost-done before they even
notice I'm there; they move too slow.

Well, it's worth nothing that Oregon also has mandatory full service.
