trailer hitch factory - summer job in college. Got to where one day I
got literally 2 steps from the factory entrance and turned around and
called in sick!!!

That reminds me of the absolute worst job I ever had. Working in a
little fiberglass shop in Azusa, Ca. Man, it was hot in there. I made
two fiberglass spoilers for the rear deck of a Porche every day, all
hand laid. There were two of us laborers in the shop and we would turn
out four a day. While they cured we would busy ourselfs repairing
fiberglass boats, filling, sanding and painting them. I worked there
for a month and then lucked out getting a job as a janitor at a
community college. I'm still repulsed by the smell of polyresin and
glues and paints. The janitor job was a cut in pay, but it was worth it
to quit.

I was a proof operator for a bank who called me into a meeting with the
bank vice prez and demanded that I cancel my plans to attend College or
resign. I had applied to be a mail clerk and that is the job they gave
me.

Next I sold Kirby vacuum cleaners door to door.

But teaching in Catholic schools was worse.
